Week of March 10 – 14, 2008

Monday – Review the sequence of events from  “La Bamba,” pages 336 - 341.  Define the vocabulary words using context clues from “La Bamba.” (6.1.10) (6.1.21)
Grammar - Begin discussing prepositions. Read pages 352 - 353.  Complete Exercise 1 page 352, Substituting Prepositions, and Exercise 2 page 353, Identifying Prepositions. (6.3.11)
Homework – NONE

4th period - Read and discuss “La Bamba,” pages 336 - 341.  (6.1.21)
Grammar - Practice the “Yankee Doodle” preposition song.  (6.3.11)
Homework – NONE

Tuesday – Go over definitions for vocabulary words for “La Bamba.”  (6.1.10)
Grammar - Complete Hands - on Grammar Activity - Students will create a preposition pop-up to practice using prepositions and prepositional phrases, page 356.  Practice the “Yankee Doodle” preposition song. (6.3.11)
Homework – Grammar - Complete workbook page 33 - 34, The Preposition

Wednesday – Review vocabulary words and definitions. Sequencing Activity:  Given 10 events from “La Bamba”, students will number events in correct sequence or chronological order. (6.1.10) (6.2.1)
Grammar – Practice the “Yankee Doodle” preposition song. Check workbook pages 33 – 34, The Prepositions. (6.3.11)
Homework – NONE

4th period –  Sequencing Activity – Complete a short story map to organize the events from the story (p.130).   (6.1.10) (6.1.21)
Grammar - Continue discussing prepositions, pages 352 - 353.  Check workbook pages 33 – 34, The Prepositions. (6.3.11)
Homework – NONE

Thursday – Review Reading Skills in the short story of “La Bamba” – multiple meaning words and sequencing. Discuss the sequencing activity.  Review the vocabulary words and definitions. (6.1.10) (6.1.21)
Grammar - Continue discussing prepositions and prepositional phrases. Complete Exercise 1 page 416, Identifying Prepositional Phrases. Using workbook page 33, students will identify the prepositional phrase and object of the preposition.  Practice preposition song.  (6.3.11)
Homework – “La Bamba” comprehension test and vocabulary test tomorrow

Friday – Listen to “La Bamba” before completing the comprehension test and the vocabulary test from the story.  Create a story pyramid illustrating the main events from “La Bamba.”  (6.1.10) (6.1.21) (6.2.1)
Homework – ENJOY YOUR SPRING BREAK!!!
