Tuesday – Begin discussing the Elements of Literature in Poetry. Discuss rhyme (end rhyme and internal rhyme), alliteration, meter, and free verse. Introduce various types of figurative language. Give definitions and examples of simile, metaphor, personification, onomatopoeia, alliteration, and imagery. (6.1.13) (6.1.18) (6.1.25)
Grammar – Complete a quiz on combining sentences. Begin discussing Adverbs, page 340. Introduce the questions adverbs answer and the parts of speech adverbs modify. Complete Exercise 17 page 340, Identifying Adverbs. (6.2.9) (6.3.4) (6.3.8)
