Monday - Introduce the elements of a short story - characters, setting, plot, conflict, theme, and point of view. Discuss the sequence of events in a story using the plot pyramid. Writing - Review the writing process and reasons for writing. Introduce and assign personal narrative, page 48-52. Tuesday – Continue discussing the elements of a short story with an emphasis on plot and sequence of events. After reading a children’s book, students will identify the story elements. Writing - After completing a pre-write for the personal narrative: the most memorable experience in their lives, begin writing rough draft. Identify audience and reason for writing.
